Phonon Corporation

Diversified Project Management was hired to provide owner's representation services to manage and oversee the planning, design, construction, FF&E coordination and staff relocation efforts of a two story, 17,500-square-foot addition to Phonon's existing facility in Simsbury, CT. The adjacency of the addition to the Simsbury Airport and Flying Club added to the complexity and constraints of this project as it made the site very tight for the staging activities of the contractor. The new building addition serves as their office space, while the existing building was renovated to expand the labs and manufacturing space. An additional 2,500-square-foot, second story addition was also added to the existing building for new labs, the existing 2,500-square-foot first floor area was retrofitted for a second new lab and an existing second floor clean room lab was expanded by 500 square feet. DPM also provided Phonon with detailed planning and coordination for other tasks associated with the project, these included the change-over from propane to natural gas, conversion from a septic system to public sewers, upgrades to the electrical transformer that services this location, retro-fit of the existing building with a new fire protection system, upgrade of data and phone infrastructure to a VOIP system and the replacement of all the existing roofs.
